This test measures the albumin level in ascitic fluid collected from the abdominal cavity. It helps evaluate the causes of fluid accumulation in the abdomen, particularly liver disease and other related conditions. The results may be used along with serum albumin levels to calculate the Serum-Ascites Albumin Gradient (SAAG) and assist in diagnosis.
